Celebrating love and marriage equality at South Bay Pride

http://sandiegophotography.com/What a wonderful couple with a wonderful family and story.  The folks putting on the South Bay Pride festival in Chula Vista awarded this and one other couple a full wedding ceremony package.  When I read their application I got tearful and knew how much I was going to enjoy honoring and celebrating them, their love, and their life together.

They came from Arizona where their relationship is not legally recognized.  Carol grew up here in north county and shared how much it means to them both to be able to have their relationship validated here in California.

As I got to know them, I knew that their story was one of love and hope and faith.  I love the reading they chose to include:

The Art of Marriage, author unknown
A good marriage must be created.
In the art of marriage the little things are the big things –
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say ‘I love you’ at least once each day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right partner –
It is being the right partner.
